Overview: On September 29, Share in the JOY hosted a transformative event, Empowering JOY, dedicated to positively impacting the lives of women and young girls by providing inspiration, support, and resources. This memorable day brought together 23 women and their daughters, offering them tools for empowerment, connection, and growth.
Purpose: To uplift and inspire mothers and their daughters (ages 10-17) through meaningful workshops and resources tailored to empower each of them to reach their fullest potential.
Attendees: Empowering JOY welcomed women and daughters from backgrounds of hardship, including survivors of violence and teenage mothers in the foster care system. We worked with SafeNest, The Shade Tree, SafeHouse and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. The day’s events were filled with opportunities for bonding, learning, and personal growth.
Theme: With a theme of meaningful engagement, the event offered a safe space for mothers to receive guidance and resources, while encouraging girls to dream big and believe in their potential.
Venue: Held in a welcoming community recreation center, the event featured a spacious gymnasium for main activities, as well as various breakout rooms for crafts, activities, and focused empowerment sessions.
Bonding Activities: Engaging games and activities for participants to strengthen relationships.
Resource Stations: Providing participants with valuable support and guidance to help girls reach their full potential.
Breakout Sessions: Opportunities for both adults and girls to participate in discussions and activities focused on personal development.
Inspirational Speakers: Panel of female leaders who can relate and inspire participants with stories of resilience and empowerment.
Catered Meals: Delicious meals will be provided to foster community and connection among attendees.
